How to read an academic paper?

Try to answer the following questions when reading a paper.
1.             What is the problem?
2.             What is the current state of the art of the problem?
3.             What are the key make-a-difference (new) method and/or technique?
4.             What are good/bad of the method/technique?
5.             What has actually been done?
6.             What is the future work?

If you are still interested in the paper, then:

7.             Are assumptions reasonable?
8.             Is the method similar to other methods in the related work?
9.             Is the improvement significant?
10.        Are the arguments logically sound?
11.        Are the evaluation metrics reasonable?
12.        Is the conclusion drawn logically from the results of the measurements?

HP Compaq Recovery Manager F11 by updating WinFlash for HP Notebook System BIOS

I have a HP laptop dv2637tx. Because I had installed many types of OS, my laptop did not work with F11 when I tried to come back the factory defaults. I tried to make the recovery partition as Active by following this help http://vinhboy.com/blog/2008/02/26/hp-compaq-recovery-manager-f11/ but this did not work because when I restarted, it said: “NTLDR missing Press Ctrl+Alot+Del to restart”. Finally, what I did was:
(1) Install new Windows Vista if you don't start up your system.
(2) Download and update the WinFlash for HP Notebook System BIOS from http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=ob-67384-1&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&os=2100&product=3593147
(3) Restart the system, keep pressing F11, on the menu options --> choose RAMDisk devices options
(4) Follow the instructions to restore your system back to original one.

Good luck!
